Just wondered what the hell is going on with the crazy amount of new Warhammer 40k based strategy games to hit Steam? Normally I would jump all over a new one but there's that many now that I just do not know which to try!

Any one tried a particular game and would recommend it?

Gw are in the crap so selling licenses left right and centre to try and make some money.

Oh and to answer the question - spacehulk deathwing is genuinely great - just had a massive update allowing you to full customise your team - looks really fantastic.

As is vermintide and vermintide 2
All the dawn of wars up to dawn of war 1 and 2 including the expansions ‘chaos rising’ and ‘retribution’ (don’t bother with dawn of war 3)

And to add to that list, Total War Warhammer 1 and 2 are also very good and Mordheim is also good. Overall, probably over half a dozen good Warhammer games around now.

Ive played all the big releases and love them all with the second DOW being my favourite and DOW 3 being the only one I have not put very much time into....yet.

The reason I was a little confused was that I thought I had played pretty much everything related to that universe and then all of a sudden theres a boat load of new ones. I honestly thought they were all just add-on's or expansions but there really is a load of new games here of will be here soon.

Yeah, if I recall correctly, in 2013 Games Workshop made a multideveloper deal to really push the Warhammer/40k franchise and signed several game companies up to produce 32 titles over the coming years. We've started to really see them explode on the scene now with almost every genre covered, theres FPS, turn based 4x , Online competitive FPS, turn based tactical, turn based strategy, real time strategy, diablo style action rpg and on and on.

You couldn't be more wrong. They reported a huge increase in sales back end of last year and their share price is through the freaking roof. Getting on to almost 200% share price increase in a year.

What we're seeing (as someone else said) is the delivery of all the products they sold the licence for a few years ago landing almost all at once.

Aye so youre right. My info was 2 years old where they were looking shaky.

When you said that I checked up as I thought like you that they were in trouble like they were a couple of years ago, they've obviously done something right though to turn it round so dramatically.

Selling licenses probably helped. That and an asian expansion.

They've been in trouble for years. Most if not all of the retail shops have closed or been taken over privately.

Ah yes ok - funnily enough I was driving through Epsom the other day and the local gamesworkshop has been re-branded ‘warhammer’ - still full at the weekends when I go past

Yep thats the one, Inquisitor, beta was ropey and a little light on content but its coming along quite well since then. I actually prefer it over the (higher rated) Grim Dawn now.
It’s launching today. I’m interested in it, but going to wait for the reviews.

Gents I do not know where you pick your numbers from, but over the last TEN YEARS the company is doing pretty well with good profits and investment returns hovering between 11-15% annually.

Over the last two years it has almost doubled their profit, and their shares already last 6 months are up 50%. And they keep growing.

Yes 2016 is the only year this decade their revenue didn't went up, their profit almost doubled for the same year.

They closed a lot of money loss making stores, they have a pretty expansion to China at the moment, and an IP that sells.

The whole situation is similar to Marvel. Their comic sales have an annual 10%+ drop this century. (already for 2017 the number is less than 80million copies). However they make billions by selling the IP.
