I was wondering if anyone could help me. I am looking to buy a webcam for my boyfriend and i but i really dont have a clue what im looking for. his computer was top of the range 2 years ago whereas mine is just a basic home computer, does this matter? i dont want to spend too much money on them but i want them to be of good quality. do you have any suggestions or advice to ensure i get the right thing?

thank you

i like the look of the Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX - Retail (WC-011-LG), its within my price range too. can you get them in different colours?

umm...i dont think id be bothered to paint it! which would be better, the Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 or the Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX? this is gona sound silly but do you need a microphone aswell or do they come built in?

Some have mic's built in, some don't. The product description should mention it if they do, they're not going to want to hide features :p

If it says it has a mic then it will, otherwise you will need to buy one aswell. :)

Webcams are much in the same these days, go with either the cheapest good one, or the nicest looking.

Don't think the camera can have different colours, some can but they are usually poor cameras!

Sorry about the colours, don't get chance to use them enough!

You might want to consider getting a headset anyway because placing a omnidirectional mic on the camera can lead it to pick up a lot of obnoxious background noise.

Stelly, I'm not a lady. I'm a maaaaaaaaaan who just likes to post in FF6699. :D

I just had to post :D

logitechs have been good for me, but the software, imo is bloated.

You can run some unnoficial drivers which are just the drivers to get it to be seen as a video capture device.

You will have to google it as the site that has them I can't post for competitor reasons. :)
