Posting details
Posting date: 22 Feb 2010
Carrier: Royal Mail
Tracking number:
Service type: RM First Class Recorded (Signed For)™ (Next working day)
Posting status: Posted

For more about your delivery, go to http://www.royalmail.com

I still have not received the item. I have the transaction ID which is 17 digits/letters, but not the tracking info as needed on RM site. I received an email from the seller after i contacted him...

i have the receipt from the post office but there are no
codes as you mentioned on it just date and time there is one
called session prefix but i dont think its the right one. Lets hope
it arrives tomorrow.

Is there any way this can be tracked? I thought it was always possible to track a recorded package. When i click the transaction ID it just goes to paypal, which says the following...

Delivery Information

Postal Status:

Refund Pending

Despatch Method:
RM First Class Recorded (Signed For)™ (Next working day)
Package Size:
Packet
Postage Compensation:
Yes

Send From:

(his address)

Deliver To:

(my address)

What does 'Refund pending' mean?

Recorded Delivery isn't tracked. You only get confirmation of delivery.

Special Delivery is fully tracked.

Usually with recorded you get a tracking number...

Please enter your 13 character reference
e.g. AA000100019GB

Its probably not fully tracked but ive checked many things that have been recorded, signed for that i could check the signatures for

As asim18 says, Recorded mail is not tracked mail.
It simply means you get to see proof that the item was delivered and who it was signed for by on the website, after delivery.

The Royal Mail website will even tell you this.
The number that you need to see to check once its delivered can be found on the receipt, if you paid for postage in a Post Office.

It arrived this morning. On the front it says 'SP' which i thought is standard parcels. Not 1st recorded

This is why its taken 3 days not 1

You used to get a code to track progress with RMRD IIRC, but now you don't - only RMSD is fully tracked.

Really? Thats crap. I always used to send things recorded (not special) and I would always send the tracking code with a note that the item has been shipped.

Bring back the postal strikes I say, get everyone using DPD and some other form of mail delivery for letters

edit - surely it cant be called recorded delivery then, if its not actually recorded. Standard Parcels are different to 1st Recorded though right? Thats what the parcel i have here was sent by, even thouh the paypal email I have says 1st Recorded. I think he tried to send it recorded maybe, then realised it was too much, got a refund and sent it standard

This is why its taken 3 days not 1

1st class 1-2 days
1st class recorded 1-3 days
Standard parcel 1-3 days

Recorded is a waste of time as its not trackable & you get the same compenation as if you sent it 1st class as long as you got the reciept from a PO.

He probally sent it Standard parcel as he wanted insurance for peice of mind. less chance of it going missing also
