Or rather questions!

Sorry am a bit over my head. I bought this near when it first came out and it has been amazing and used well over the stated bulb life. Sadly my expertise on projectors is really low so I have a few questions if someone would be kind enough to inform me :)

1: As stated I've gone well over the stated lamp life and to me the picture is still perfect. Is it safe to just keep going with it till it ermm runs out? (is it similar to a light bulb in one day it will just stop working!?)

2: Does anyone know a good place to buy a lamp to replace it when it does go? (only state it if its not a competitor of OCUK). I tried a quick google and failed.

3: Lastly how easy is it to replace?

Thanks for your time :)

The lamp timer is simply a guide. The circuit board that drives the lamp measures the starting voltage required to strike the lamp.

Once that gets to a predetermined threshold level then the projector will flash up the lamp replacement message. If it gets to a second threshold - where the voltage required is too great and the lamp won't strike then that's when the projector won't start.

Many don't realise that it's the starting of the lamp that creates the greatest amount of ageing. Leaving a projector on all night is better that switching it on and off as and when viewed.

Ah wow thanks for the info. Yeah maybe that's why its seemingly lasting so long as I do tend to have it on in long sessions (its connected to the x-box and blu ray player). Certainly no warning sign has ever come on. Its good to know it will last a while longer before having to shell out for a new lamp :).
