I have a hp MSA p2000 at work and it has 12x300gb disks. They are labelled with a label machine as different things like os store and file store. Basically i need to know if i can find information about the use of the san remotely?

my boss said that i can install a hp disk utility that can do this but the one i downloaded appears to be a boot disk of some kind.

Ok we have an MSA with 2x scsi storage controllers with 2x 1gigabit ports each and a 10/100mbit network port each. All those ports connect in to two cisco switches. I do have access to the switches.

I am unable to identify what the ip address is of the msa to connect to it via https it doesn't show up on a network scan. I think it is on a specific vlan that only the esx servers can reach.

I am guessing then i would have to modfiy one of the vlans for the network ports of the 10/100mbit, to make it visible to the network where one of the windows server sits?

edit: never mind sorted it out. Found the ip. *sigh* documented password doesn't work.

Ok I managed to get access to the web interface and i have found that there has been three months of critical alerts.

This is the alert:

Vdisk scrub job failed (vdisk: vd02, SN ....) 8 parity mismatches were detected. It is imperative that you contact technical support. DATA MAY BE AT RISK!

Not sure how to fix it but i think this means that if there is a disk failure it won't be able to rebuild the array.

edit: ok i think i need to run the command "verify vdisk vd02 fix yes"
