Anybody know stuff about the subject? I'm looking to switch in at the start of my second year, but apparently it's not likely to happen, cuz you build on all the foundations yada yada yada. I've done basic html/css stuff in the past, but nothing too major.
My housemate last year did this course, had to design a battleships game in php i think. I'm sure I know more than him and am more passionate about computers in general, and he passed. But yeh whole thing seems a laugh.

Any info boys and girls?

What did you do in your first year? Assuming you're talking about a degree it really depends on the university as to what you study. If you are really passionate about doing it then find out what the first year material was and prove to them that you understand it all.

Basic HTML and CSS are nothing like PHP. PHP is a server side language more like C or Javascript than any HTML or CSS. You would probably also need to know MySQL. I wouldn't say its hard but you probably would need to do the first year again if they are recommending it and you have no PHP knowlage whatsoever. Also what are you doing now?

gash, i did maths and finance, always been alright at maths, like been a year ahead for ages, gcse and a-level a year early and stuff, so first year was pretty straight forward, but just finished my second year and everything was horrible.

so basc doing second year again, keeping the finance, but bored of the maths. only really doing it cuz i could. was initially thinking economics, but then its all a bit samey.

yeh was my plan to find out and try learn, got nothing else to do for the rest of summer. gonna talk to my mate who did it last year.

Sounds like you want to retake GCSE English lol. But even so I am sorry to hear you didn't do so well in your second year. If your are really passionate about some thing then do it. However make sure you know what you are getting your self in for if you skip the first year of that course. I have heard a lot of people saying the first year is easy its the second and third years which really bring on the work load so it might be worth seeing what you needed to have learnt in order to study the second year.

Haha I got a solid A at GCSE! Hartley-Witney, I used to roam around there. Yeh 2nd year was a lot harder, especially as the first year I was mostly like....yehhhh.....done all this before....all laid back, then second year jumps up in your face. Just wasn't a very good year outside of uni either.

But.

If I study on computers, surely that's more excuses to spend money on mine? Funnily enough I'm about to get a bus to Overclockers...woo.

Ha! Nice where did you go to college/school? Also sounds like thats what you wana do so commit your self start now. Only if your really sure and perhaps get some advice from connexions or the course leader tell them your committed and ask them what they recommend reading. PHP can be easy to pick up as its widely used and theres loads of tutorials try www.w3schools.com to start

Cheers man I'll be checking it out this evening, just need to go buy a new mouse down the old OC. Spilt water on this one so it starts jumping round the screen sometimes. Not the best tactic in BF2.

I was at alton, guessing you may have been too? Left 2 years ago. Not a bad college IMO.
