Hi all,

I've just had a idea that can keep some of us bored OcUKers busy and help the community.
How about we all decide on an idea for a website and make it.. also we can maybe shove a few adverts on there and donate proceeds to charity or something?

Anyone think this'll work?

How would we all go about making it though? Each do a certain part, or some people design and some code?

It could be interesting what comes out but it may be quite difficult to actually put into practice. :)
 
it may be better for a few people to develop the site and then otehr develop the actual content, whether that be tutorials on different things (our own version of wiki), Art, maybe our own user written programs or games.

Maybe start your own open source development of something.
 
One suggestion may be is for people to make a design in PS and post here, then the winning design (or most likely amalgumation) can then be developed into a site.

good idea :) anyone read the OcUK collage thread in GD? (will get a link later)

basically someone started making a site, then others contributed code and ideas towards it etc

i'll be hosting it on my server so will be quickly updated

one of my ideas was a kind of tutorial site for something which makes things REALLY easy to do and n00b friendly
 
So how about a HG&P site with tutorials, top tips, Software reviews, Member developed sofware etc..

A bit like:

TFT Central, for the minitors section, by Badass
Case central, for the case section, by Yewen
etc.... (theres one for hosting already but this could be the practical side)

Wiki idea where members can update info is good

Goof idea :D can see that being quite possible to make aswell
 
top tips would be good in a DB that shows a new tip eveytime you open the site or refresh, but also with the option to scroll through the tips. Most of the tips could easily be got from these pages of ocuk.

Also maybe a links area, where site can be added the would be of interest - i have come accross some really useful site using Stumble! most are blogs of sorts but have great info and tutorials in them

JoeyJoJo: will do :) i forget to set up my email for the collage when i reinstalled vista :eek:

Any ideas yet people? If someone can design a site which will be easy to update/add extras and looks nice (like the Vista/Office homepages on microsoft.com) that would be lovely, and i will set up some hosting :D
