Let's pretend this is a hypothetical situation, but we all know questions like this are only asked when it's a real situation!

If someone has an accident abroad, but are fit to be discharged and fly home with minimal medical intervention but with later surgery recommended, would you be covered for that surgery in the UK by your normal health insurance and not separate travel insurance?

Surgery has been recommended due to being an unstable fracture but the flight home is due to depart in roughly 12 hours time, coming from the United States to London.

Just wondering how far I should be prepared to bend over.

As I work for both your travel insurance and your private health insurance, I’m definitely best qualified to answer this. I’m so glad you didn’t ring your provider and ask them. The person on the phone is probably some random with no valuable input who spends their working time on an Internet forum for computer enthusiasts….
