Right i've just fit a tap in the front garden to make washing the car a bit easier. So now having done that i'm tempted to wash it more than twice a year...

...but whenever I do the car tends to look worse than it started thanks to the ridiculous levels of chalk in the water down here.

In the past I used one of those flash cleaner units with decent results, but I was wondering if you can get a filter I could plumb into the tubing which would filter out chalk deposits from the water.

Clearly as it's for washing the car it's gotta be pretty quick so a brita water filter aint gonna cut it here lads

Any suggestions? :)

I have very hard water too, the trick is to dry the car as you go. Rinse a panel off, then dry using a chamois or a 'waffle' cloth, like the Meguiar's Water Magnet.

Otherwise, Aqua Gleam produce some very good filters, but aren't worth the money unless you're waxing the car every other week, in my opinion.

There are a number on the market, ranging in price from around £150 to several hundred. It will of course mean that you no longer need to buy bottled water too. :D

Kinda stealing your topic sorry, but are inline filters like brita filters? I hate drinking tap water and have been thinking of investing in a brita filter :)

Inline filters are exactly that ....... fit on the mains, either just before a particular tap (you get filtered water from that tap) or just after the mains enters the house to give filtered water throughout the house.

The ones that I used to sell, many years ago, would last an average family about 3yrs before replacement and cost £150 fitted ....... some need the filter replaced every six months.

If you work out how much you pay for bottled water over a year, it probably comes to more than £150 ....... and you get thousands of litres via the filter so you are quids in and healthier.

Google for inline water filters ........ see what you fancy; some are very cheap, some are quite expensive. You need to do a bit of research to see what each one does etc and then make your mind up.

Everyone should fit one in my opinion but many prefer to buy the jug things, god knows why!

Anyway, get one, you won't be disappointed.
