Inno RTX 2070 problem

I was trying to install my daughters new graphics card and it only works on an intermittent basis. I think the problem relates to the thickness of the electrical connector at the bottom of the card - the part that slots into the PCI-E slot. When it clicks into place the card is still quite loose and has around two or three inches of lateral movement at the top of the card. In other words it seems the connector is too thin and not making a secure contact.
Has anyone else experienced this or know how to solve the problem? Her mobo is an Asus Z170-p and any other cards I try fit into the slot are a snug fit.

I agree with you. So my thoughts were that there may be a manufacturing defect on the card and wondered if this was possible and/or has anyone else had the same problem.

It's possible. If the other card works fine it seem you have a faulty card.

Ignoring the RTX failuer rate, most oddball problems are usually down to power supply. What PSU do you have?

Have you tried fitting the card into another slot on the board, or another PC?

Update - I tried it in my sons pc (he runs a 1070) with exactly the same result - nothing. So I'm putting it down to a dud card and sending it back.
