Interesting. Looks like it would be even better if further along the card so its a straight run off over the edge of the mobo in the cable management channel.

The thing is, the 40 series boards are quite small; it's the coolers that are large. So the connector is on the end of the board.

Do 4070's even benefit much from these kinds of huge heatsink/three fan setups? I thought their thermal requirements were fairly modest. I can see how this would appeal to those looking for a particular look in their case though.

The lack of quick access would probably grate on me during a build though, especially if any troubleshooting ended up getting involved.

It’s not for performance really, although it obviously means they run very cool and quiet. It’s all about marketing and aesthetics.
