Input Lag free screens

Discounting CRTs, which type of monitor / TV / screen will have the lowest input lag?? After viewing a cheapish widescreen 22inch this week I was really struck by the lag between a G25 steering wheel and the onscreen wheel as compared to my current CRT which shows no perceptible delay at all.

I want to upgrade my monitor but ideally want no input lag. I'd even be happy to go with a TV of 1366/768 if it offered no input lag. Also, viewing quality and viewing angles are secondary for me.

I've done a search for input lag, but there were too many results to find any conclusive and specific answers.

Yes input lag is a problem, but you're assuming that the software part of the game interpreted the movements from the steering wheel instantly, which probably isn't the case.

I was comparing the same piece of software with the same wheel (G25) on two different PCs / monitors. My CRT has very little lag compared to the 22 inch widescreen.

At the moment its pretty much impossible to get any screen (excluding crt)
that does not have some input lag

It has to convert an interlaced signal to a progressive one , so lag will always be present.

Yeah I guessed this might be the case, so I'd like to know which choice (excluding CRT) will give me the lowest input lag.

TN screens have very low input lag, but if you want quality then IPS screens are the way forward!

Thanks. How do you go about ensuring you get a TN screen? And what about TVs?? Would I get much input lag from a TV like this one??

Some LCD monitors have analogue and digital inputs (like the 21.6 Samsung on offer this week) Does one introduce more / less lag than the other?

Perhaps we need a summary table of the best 22" / 24" and 26" panels with the input lag figures
Anyone have this ? Baddass ??

From my quick research so far, three of the best monitors for low lag are:

LG Flatron L227WT
BenQ G2400WD
Samsung SM-245B

In one test I found, the LG supposedly has zero lag!!

The Samsung model sold here has a 'PLUS' in the name. Is this an updated model? Anyone know what the PLUS denotes? If the lag tests done are right on this screen (this review) it looks like this is a good choice for a 24 if input lag is an issue for you.

I already have a Samsung 2232BW "Pebble", similar screen to the 226BW, and I would be looking for a 26" or 24" with comparable input lag if this is possible, oh and I don't really want a TN based panel if I went to either of these sizes.....I don't want much then..lol

Seems it's easy to find low lag monitors if you're happy with a TN screen. I too would like to see which higher quality screens offer low input lag. Anything less than an average of 16ms would be acceptable imo.
