Got a new gpu 6600xt gaming OC. I pulled out my rx580 and put the new one in. When I boot pc my monitor says input not supported.

any idea ?
I don’t even see the boot splash screen

Have you updated your motherboard to the latest BIOS? I would start there first, stick the rx580 back in update bios and then stick new card in and see.

It’s was on the latest bios about 2 months ago because of ram speed problems but I will have a look for a new one

What connection (HDMI or DisplayPort) are you using?

If there isn't a new MB BIOS, try switching between input types (so, use HDMI if you are currently using DP, for example), if you have appropriate cables.

Also, if you leave it a decent interval to allow Windows to fully boot, try unpluging and reconnecting the cable to try to trigger Windows to query the monitor EDID and get the right resolution/refresh that way (not that it is likely to be a permanent solution, but might help with diagnosis).

I’ve worked out what I have done. When putting the gpu in I plugged it into my tv just to boot and see a screen. When it worked I put it back on my desk and the fun started.

my tv is 4k and monitor is 1440p. When I get home from work I will connect to tv again and reset bios, I think it’s posting in 4k and the monitor doesn’t support that

Nope, no matter what I do my monitor just says input not supported.

works fine on my tv but not monitor.

Bios updated and reset. Windows res set to 1080p system boots to windows but nothing on the screen

Are you using the same cable to your TV as to your monitor?

If not, it could just be a cable issue.

Which monitor do you have? I'm wondering if this could be a HDCP or similar issue. Have you tried a Displayport cable?

its just a budget panel i got from ocuk about 2 years ago
