Insane i5 2500k readings

This is my first build which includes a intel i5 2500k 3.3ghz CPU, it's not used for any gaming at the moment just photo editing and general publishing.

But last night I decided to open up the intel extreme tuning utility and have a nose around, without touching anything as I still don't know what I'm doing, I noticed that the core temperature was highlighted red and showing a reading of 255 degrees  and the the core 1 processor voltage was showing red with a reading of 167.00 (defiantly wasn't 1.67). All the fans including the CPU fan were spinning so everything was cooling ok.

Late last night I took off the CPU cooler cleaned off the paste and applied some new stuff and the readings where more modest CPU temp 45 degrees but the voltage still highlighted red showing 0.00000.

Could anyone over any advice for a newbie please.

wouldn't worry about the figures shown in that utility, most of them are terrible anyway, the one I have is absolute trash and 9 times out of 10 just crashes my computer...! also on the plus side if the voltage was really 167V pretty sure your processor would just spontaneously explode, so don't worry about it ;)

I got really worried lol, wish I would have taken a picture for evidence, just used CPU-z and the readings look a lot more stable and normal, cheers for your advice guys
