Well all I'm going to say is the store I'm talking about is famous for selling retro console systems and games. They do have good prices on some of the games like £1.99 but today I asked if they had a Mega CD or a 32X they did but they sell them for £25 each so that's £50 if I wanted them both (OMG). I could buy a Megadrive, Saturn and Dreamcast for that kind of money if I shop around. Crazy isn't it? It's not that I couldn't afford them I just wouldn't pay that on principle.

Looks like I'll have to hang around the members market. :D

Its because of there comparable rarity. There arent many shops you can walk in and even hope to find a 32x.

Exactly right. Neither of them sold in enourmous numbers so they command a premium price due to their scarcity. If I was collecting retro stuff I would snap them up for that kind of price, I've not seen a 32x for years.

I assume that if i have a 32X that has a few screen problems then its virtually useless.

Basically after about half an hour of gaming an inch wide strip appears down the right hand side with some image distortion.

Still got the box for it too...very annoying, always got the games i guess, i've got Doom, Star Wars Arcade, Virtua Racing Delux, Space Harrier and John Madden...worth anything?

after half an hour of gaming ? You played on it for half an hour! ? I assume you only found this out by playing Mega drive games.

If those games are in good condition then they are worth a bit. Check the bay for details though. There is one game called T-Mek that is worth a small fortune. Its complete crap but ultra rare.

Well i had the machine for over a year after launch before this problem started occurring, the megadrive is fine, i think it may be a problem with the shielding plates that you insert into the MD cartridge slot before adding the 32X. It was a well used machine so its probably wear and tear.

Some of the games are in good condition, unfortunately Sega in their brilliance used cardboard boxes for the first 6 months after launch, so not many boxes have survived in quality condition.

I managed to buy a Mega CD for £18 fully boxed and with all instructions. Was looking in certain shops before and they was selling it for £60  As for the games......well dont get me started when I saw the price of Sonic CD.

How much, out of interest?

I have one of those.

Went from £100 down to £80, now they as selling it in a bundle with other rare Mega CD games taking the price back up to £100. Its the most expensive game in the shop next to Castlevania SOTN on the PS1.
