I've been itching for an upgrade for a while, there's a few things im not sure about as i keep reading different posts and confusing myself.

I keep reading about haswell and the C7 sleep thingy and that it doesn't like certain psu's yet i then see people suggest a psu which ocuk don't have on there haswell compatible list, is there a reason this or are there no real benefits for C7?

I have currently:

i7 920 co
asus p6t deluxe
noctua nh-d14 cooler
12gb xms3 1333hz (should be 16gb but i only used 3 sticks for tripple channel instead of the dual channel its suppose to be)
c300 60gb ssd
corsair hx620 modular psu (on corsairs site it says likely compatible)
msi 6950 2gb twin fro III

I like to go to newer parts to kinda future proof everything so i wont have to buy for a few years to come

i5 4670k hawell
msi z87 g45
samsung 840 evo 120

questions really are can i re-use any of my parts like the memory/psu or should I buy new and sell on the old

many thanks inadvance

Is that i7 920 overclocked? To what speed? I'm not sure a 4670k would represent much of an upgrade compared to a well clocked 920. You might be better off waiting for the next generation and - if you really want an upgrade - spending your money on a GPU.

If the RAM is DDR3 then it will be compatible, however I think it's DDR2 for the 775 chipset, so you'll need DDR3 RAM.

The PSU will be fine, the C7 low power mode that Haswell can make use of, is disabled as default on most motherboards so is never a real issue to any PSU.

How much budget do you have?

i7 isnt overclocked, never been good in that area, tried once but wasnt stable enough, I play a few games but do a lot of photoshop!

I just checked cpu-z and it shows ddr3
