A friend has recommended that I try Insanity as i'm in dire need of some cardio. He's already started a week ago and has already nearly puked his guts up in the gym :D

Has anyone used this?

I will struggle with it a bit as i'm quite restricted with floor space and I am quite lazy but i'm hoping to keep pushing with it and hopefully see some definate improvement. Doing what I can is better than doing nothing, right?

Waste of money IMO. Just hit proper weight training and some high intensity interval training if you fancy it on the cardio method of your choosing. No need to buy some DVD that tells you to jump up and down all day with 5 second rests, I can do that on my own thanks Jeff.

Ive done this, it really is fantastic for weight loss, ok yea you could just do this without buying the dvd, but look here man, if you like to follow a strict routine and enjoy this sort of exercise then it will get you results.

I started getting into fitness about 18 months ago and started with Insanity, 84kg, after doing this i got down to 70kg, then i started weight training and making all kinds of gains.

Plus its pretty awesome to do the fit test at the beginning then again at the end and see your gains

for 40mins a day for 60 days with that mix of exercise and intensity (and diet), you shouldn't fail to get results, but its a hell of a commitment.

I couldn't commit 40 mins a day (wish i could).

I aint a waste of money if you stick with it and get the results you want.

That said, there are plenty of HIT routines available on the interwebby that folks can try.

Guessing this is similar to P90?

Nope, I haven't done it, but looked into it. Didn't think it could give me anything massive above what I can do in a gym. The only benefit I saw of P90 was that it suggested you could do it at home with minimal equipment.

Yea its exactly that,

When i done it, i did 1 day on 1 day off because i felt i didn't recover enough to go maximum attack every session if i didn't rest.

Insanity is actually a really good work out

Insanity:Asylum is pretty awesome too.

This is what Shaun T came up with next tho, Steedie's favourite.

ok, I know this thread was started 2+ years ago, but has anyone else tried this?

OP, did you go ahead with it?

Holy Necro!

I gave it a good go for about 3 weeks but it's absolute murder! I did start to lose some weight and definitely felt better in myself for doing it.

Slacked off though as I'm quite lazy and ended up just hitting the gym every now and again and playing football. :D

If you're committed into doing it then it will work but be warned, it's very hard!

Thing is, you know what you're doing. A lot of people don't and use this as a good guide to weight loss and cardio. It also comes with a diet plan so you know what you want to be eating, not that I paid any attention to that :p

P90 is similar but that requires 'some' equipment. Insanity you just need a floor.

Insanity is a joke, just like P90, crossfit and all the other fads. Sure you'll get results as you would doing pretty much anything but you need to ask yourself what results you want and whats the best way to get them?

For 90% of people there's more efficient ways of getting what you want without having to puke. All it is is knowledge. if you don't have it and can't get it, or simply enjoy these type of programs then it's better than nothing.

I think if you read/watch some of the blurb about Insanity, it seems to me that part of it is the 'challenge' to push yourself harder than you ever have.
He's not advocating that you have to go this nuts to achieve a beachbody otherwise you'll fail.

I'm not too convinced by the diet when a certain food is specified to target upper back fat, but the training is pretty good; very little high impact, not too many complex moves.
I personally think i'd find it repetitive (as well as tough), but i wouldn't go as far as calling it a 'joke'.

I think too many people jump on the bandwagon fad of calling these regimes a 'fad'......most haven't tried them or looked more into them than the initial advert.

I started Insanity last week.

I have quite a busy life at the moment, i work 4 on 4 off, my days off are spent looking after my son and picking up my eldest from school, so gym time would be virtually non-existent. Insanity looked good for me, i can do it when ever i want and all i have to do it sacrifice 40-45mins a day in my living room.

Its hard. You can stop for a break when you want but you really need to push yourself as much as possible. Even after a week my waist has started to loose a little fat.

For info, I'm 13ish stone, bit of a belly which is the reason why i've tried it. After a couple of days my legs were in agony, did some reading up on the internet and it seemed i needed extra protein to help my muscles repair quicker. Drank chocolate milk for a couple of days until my protein powder turned up, much better now.

Still hard but seems to be working :)

I sell this product in work for Beachbody... very popular but the newest program - Focus T25 (by Shaun T also) has sold out 3 times since it went on sale in the UK with us 3 or 4 weeks back... very popular.

Did the complete program a few months ago with the wife, then went straight on to a weight lifting program. Started eating right/more (as I was eating decent food but nowhere near enough) after poor results half way through.

So, 60 days of Insanity (with a few missed days due to work, and the odd alcoholic blowout), and now about 6 weeks of lifting 5 days a week and I've dropped 17lbs so far. A decent rate of weight loss, if not staggeringly impressive, but the change in my actual stature is very apparent, especially the midriff. I've developed visibly muscular quads too, and am definitely stronger.

I think it's a great program... really knocks the hell out of you and, to be honest, if I hadn't taken on the challenge of doing something so extreme I would probably have just kept going the way I was. Now, I'm really paying attention to what I put into myself, sticking to exercising rather than being a lazy piece of crud and I WILL NOT STOP until I've reached my goals.

I won't allow going through 60 days of that nightmare to have been for nothing! Shaun T is one hell of a motivator, too -- something which is incalculably essential for keeping my butt off the sofa. So yeah, my personal experience with Insanity has definitely been a positive one. Are you gonna start it as a fat lump and walk away an Adonis after two months? Of course not. Think realistically.

Anyway, once the current lifting phase is done, I'm heading back to doing an Insanity and lifting hybrid for a while to see how that goes. Then might try The Asylum or P90X. :)

If all goes to plan, when I'm eventually happy with where I am I would like nothing more than to meet Shaun T and thank him personally for turning my life around. Only about 50lbs to go! LOL.

Me and the guys at work are going to start this today.

Quite a commitment but we're all going to support each other.

Looking forward to seeing what I'll be like at the end of it. I'm not fat, but at 6ft 2" and about 15st I could certainyl do with toning up and I want to improve my fitness with the view to starting swimming 3 times a week as well.

Once you've done all of them you could do real weights, and see a real improvement :p
