Did anyone watch this the other night on Channel 4?

The first episode was about the Great White Shark and I found it hugely interesting.

Had no idea about the sharks anatomy but they disected a shark and explained what all the parts did and how they work.

Next episode is about the Giant Python. I can't wait

First episode is available on 4od: http://www.channel4.com/programmes/inside-natures-giants/4od

It was a really good start to the series, my favourite episode now after the Whale episode in the last season.

I was blown away by the sharks liver, the dead shark on the beach that was pregnant and the sharks skin, which is basically just teeth!

Are the animals being killed spicifically for the program? I didn't watch it because I don't agree with that, but if they are already dead from some other reason, I might give it a go.

They dont kill any of the animals, they die of their own causes either in captivity or the wild. In the first series they had a mad rush to get to a beach where a whale had beached and died to dissect it in time before it turned.

Real fasinating insight into nature, love it.

watching it now! what an amazing animal! when that family caught that small shark and gutted it and then there was a baby one inside which was then born and they freed it!

pretty amazing!

** OMFGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG at that liver! lol

Saw an episode from the first series about a giraffe, was brilliant, must have to catch it this time round, especially the Python one. :)

Python wasn't amazing I didn't think, too much other stuff like finding one and seeing other live ones and not as much dissecting as the shark and other things in season 1.

I thought that but I guess there's not a lot of complication with a snake so it's pretty straight forward.

I'm looking forward to the Lion/Tiger episode aswell even though i love puddy tats. :(

^ lol, you're scared of them when they're on TV?

Watched it, loved it! Fantastic series so far, lions and tigers next week should be incredible .

Great programme, decided to give it a watch even though it makes me upset watching these things.

Was very interesting from their liver that has some sort of oil in it to help the shark keep its buoyancy, how its lense in its eye is protected from armour, how it is warm blooded and not cold blooded etc.

Can't believe they kill them for just their fins iirc and just let them drown and sink to the sea bed, very sad and I don't think I'm ever going to try sushi now! :@

It just makes me angry that it has taken these wonderful creatures 400 million years to evolve to what they are today and we a killing 70 million a year iirc for them to become extinct in the near future!

Regarding the baby shark that they took out its mother’s womb and sent it on its merry way, I'm guessing it would have survived with no problems? I watched a documentary a while back about sharks and when they are in the womb they actually kill and eat one another to survive which was pretty gruesome, so would they just swim off when born or do they stay with their mother for a while?

Looking forward to the following episodes!
