Insignia Vibrating When Idle? (not bought yet)

Just saw an Insignia and test drove it. Private seller. Noticed it had a bad vibration when idling especially in the driver side part of the car.

The doors (when opened) were shaking up and down 1cm and it would make eating sandwiches on your lunch break in the car very uncomfortable.

The engine also didn't seem to pull as well as my 1.8 2001 petrol focus (Insignia was 2ltr diesel with 130k milage) especially in 1st gear, despite the focus having 113bhp verses 157bhp.

Anyone know what's up? Should I avoid it? I only ask as the car is an 09 model and going for 2k. Thanks.

dual mass maybe or missing a cylinder.

It sounds down on power, so injector or other fuelling issue seems likely..

Deffo avoid.

It pulled OK in 2nd but that first gear felt super short and didn't launch the car much at all.

That's why it's 2k.
He is hoping somebody clueless comes along and buys it.

Sounds like an expensive repair.

Given even the oldest average mileage Insignia has a retail value of almost 5k I'd suggest those you have seen had serious issues for under 2k.

Quite normal for a 2 litre or smaller diesel engine in my opinion.

For a very brief period. It's over so quickly that feels as though it pulls harder in taller gears.

My 2.2d Mazda 3 has a pointless first gear.
Only really good for getting me to 20mph.
2nd is what shines. 20-50mph zoom zoom.

If i floor it in 1st yes it shoots you forward... But i feel like the car will blow up when i do that lol

1st gear in my Insignia is over quickly, Power comes in from 2nd gear and up.

My mate has an insignia cdti which pulls well in first, surprised me when I drove it actually, it does go well.

I'm sure you appreciate this is (a) bad for the environment, (b) bad for the engine, (c) bad for your wallet, and (d) illegal ?

Diesels are kinda rough, but not that rough. Definitely something expensive wrong with it.
