Hi guys,

I need to buy some insoles for my rugby boots. Anyone know which are the decent brands?

I picked one pair but but they raise the heel and mean the back of the boot doesn't provide the right ankle support, resulting in my heel raising from the boot when I run.

Cheers!

Can I ask, is this a need because of hard pitches and the aluminium studs bruising your feet? For the last decade years I've used moulded studs in the warmer harder months August, September, April and May and used my aluminium studded boots in the wet months. I did this because I had the same issue as you with insoles raising the heel and making the boots unwearable. This was for rugby low cut backs boots.

you have to remove existing insoles .. but I use Sorbothane shock stopper double strike .. in running shoes they last through multiple shoes - say 5 years.

Flat feet are causing me shin splints. Insoles are the answer apparently (+ some strengthening exercises).

I literally feel your pain, I have very flat feet and have suffered with shin splints. I can only suggest two pairs of socks and moulded boots for training, which I'm guessing is the majority of your exercise time and move to trainers when the pitches get dry and hard. Go back to your proper boots for matches then you're only exposed to the hard soles for the 80/90 minutes of the game.
