History

Listening to the last radio message when I was younger, they taught me never to give in.

Jenny Pitman is my inspirational figure. An amazing lady who came from nothing and kicked ass in a mans world.

My parents - I have always looked up to them.
Bruce Lee - bringing martial arts to the mainstream.
Sammo Hung (my favourite) - proving fat people can be make better martial artists than skinny people! and the fact he is one of the greatest producers/directors/choreographers in cinema history imo.
Jackie Chan - cinema icon and MA genius.
Gandhi - standing up for what he believed in.
Martin Luther King - as above.
Lance Armstrong - overcoming his illness and achieving his goals.

they are just the ones of the top of my head.

And beat cancer as well.

Mine would have to be people like Sir Richard Branson, Sir Alan Sugar and (don't laugh) Sir Peter Stringfellow. I've a lot of time for people who actually make their success from nothing through sheer hard work.

The man cut his own fingers off with a hacksaw. Legend.

Toe actually. I think his views on life are one of the things which makes me think of him as a modern day insperation.

Lance Armstrong - seven consecutive Tour de France wins after being diagnosed with cancer of the balls, brain and lungs is a truly amazing feat.

No it was his fingers, he got severe frostbite and his surgeon told him he'd have to wait 4-6 months till the ends of his fingers died off. The pain was excruciating so he went into town, bought a microhacksaw blade and "trimmed" his fingers.

It wasn't till recently I learnt he is ex-SAS. (Must get round to reading a biography of his)

Inspirational figures are brought to you by the numbers 69

:D

:o First thing that enetered my head before clicking on the thread! Sowwy.

H.H. Dalai Lama

A personal inspiration to me. The Tibetan leader forced to flea a number of years ago by the Chinese after their full on occupation of the country. For all the years in exile he has always tried to keep diplomatic relations with China. He always find's compassion in the face of his homeland being destroyed culturally, religiously and politically

He cracks me up. One time in the Arctic, he woke up to find a 900lb Polar bear rummaging round the camp, in true English gent style he shouted "You, polar bear, bugger off, go away bear!". It did. :D
