I got this:
  • Radon Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz @ 4.00GHz Overclocked Bundle
  • Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black
  • Sony Optiarc AD-7260S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM
  • Corsair TX 650W ATX SLi Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-650TXUK)
  • Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ)

I have put it all together and loaded win 7 but have had a couple of blue screen crashes when doing nothing in windows. I ran a few test programs and got these results:

The OCCT program gave me a load of Graphs that I can post if they would be helpful.

It seems that the cpu may be running hot under stress and there could be a problem in one of the cores. Any advice would be great!

up the volts on your vcore. want are they as core temp does not seem to be showing it for some reason. use cpu-z

edit sorry 1.38 you can go higher than that

also your temps are way below spec

Here are the bundle specs. I bought the overclocked bundle as I dont have a huge amount of knowledge about overclocking. I had hoped it would all run smoothly...

- CPU: Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz @ 4.00GHz
- Motherboard: Asus P7P55D-E Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard
- RAM: Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
- Cooler: Akasa Venom CPU Cooler (Upgrade options available)

also your temps are way below spec
is that bad?

As above; temps very very low if those tests are running.

I expect to see temps in the 60-70*c region.

If you are getting core errors and so on - your system is likely to be unstable due to vcore being too low (as previously mentioned).

From my reading, oftentimes:

Blue Screen = memory

Black screen = processor

Don't be afraid of the crash, its NBD. Just gotta fix it :)

Check list:

RAM speed; make sure you are
1) Running at or below spec MHz (some say 1600MHz, but are actually only 1333MHz relying on an "Xtreme memory profile" to boost it. IE more volts) Mine is one of those. I keep mine <1333 and I have zero memory issues.
2) RAM voltage; make sure you have the voltage set somewhere in the 1.4-1.8 region.
3) VCore; for 4GHz, YMMV, but you may want to try 1.4V. I think my i5 @ 4.2GHz is 1.45 ish. (can't remember). Restart, test. Crash? Bump the VCore a notch. Repeat.

Temps below spec isn't a bad thing, but it is a teller that your i5 is not set right (in all probability). 4GHz is a pretty good OC for the i5. It is using about 90w. It is gonna get a bit hotter than 45*c =)

Report back - try the RAM thing too, I had to work that one out for myself... a frustrating time!

DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING IN BIOS.

If you do, you potentially void your warranty. Call in OcUK customer service, they should assist you with necessary changes in BIOS settings, under warranty. You can contact them in these Forums in Customer Service forum.

IMO you're better off sending the bundle though and getting a refund. Build and overclock it yourself, it's more fun and potentially safer. For too many problems I have seen with overclocked bundles these days.

No, that's only if you update the bios. You are free to change stuff as OcUK have made a profile to revert back to if needed.

Indeed he should contact OcUK, overclocking your self maybe be fun for the ones who enjoy it, but can also be annoying, and to say it's potentially safer is just a load of crap.

I would feel 100% safer overclocking anything myself then letting it do to people who do it on day to day basis. Simple reasoning for that is they don't have much time to spend on tweaking and stability test run most likely in the background - they're not able to predict how and when these bundles will fail.

Afaik you void the warranty if you tweak overclock settings in bios, even though you have a spare bios profile there.

No one can ever predict how and when a bundle or in fact that a PC will fail...

OcUK require you to wait up to around 48 hours when you've ordered a bundle, this is probably due to the tweaking and no doubt a stable test as I know they would be stupid not to.

Overclocking your self can be never ending as you're always testing for stability and then always wanting to push it further.

Updating the BIOS on the overclocked bundle range will void the warranty on the overclock. If you update the BIOS we will no longer be able to provide support for configuring and maintaining the CPU overclock.

If you have a stable OC, it doesn't fail, it's as simple as that. A new OC that isn't stable from the start up is a joke tbh.

When you overclock yourself, you're pushing the hardware you have to its limits with the most suitable settings you have. It's only never ending if you're a moron or can't decide what you want, it's still a better choice for ensuring stability though.

I agree that this bundle should be stable. Id rather it was slightly less overclocked and stable tbh.

here are some more screen shots of tests. managed to get some during the stress tests this time.

RAM seems to be ok...

Dont know if this is relevant but about 50% of the time I boot the computer, the fans turn on for about 2 seconds then go off for about five seconds before the pc starts up again... Does not happen every time but most times it does that.

I cant get through to the correct help line at overclockers :( permanently engaged during opening hours and I cant call when im at work.

either give us a call or post in the customer support forum.

if you choose to post in customer support then please post the entire spec of your system so we know what the circumstances are.
