Evening all,

This has been doing my head in pretty much all day and I'm now out of ideas.

I purchased the FIFA 18 & NFS Payback bundle from Origin this morning. FIFA all is well, NFS Payback just 100% refuses to install.

I get the following errors just as it hits the 'playable' marker and refuses to go any further, as its not recognised as installed I can't do a repair install or anything like that.

I've tried manually installing the DX redist package, that also fails - though as far as I'm aware I shouldn't have to worry about manually installing DX redist packages on W10?

Downloaded the sodding 28GB of game 4 times today, to different drives, different configs, nothing appears to be working.

Anyone got ANY ideas, googling suggests this is an error specific to EA/Origin titles but nothing I search has a solid conclusion.

Short of someone who has the game installed successfully sending me the _Installer folder I'm fresh out of ideas....well besides getting a refund.

Edit: I have been onto EA live chat, they removed the game from my account and added a fresh copy - same results, now the live chat is greyed out and can no longer contact them (wonderful!)

could you try reinstalling origin? No idea if it would help but you never know.

Just trying that now....and downloading the thing for a 5th time today :p

Can't see the errors as dropbox is blocked at work.

Have you tried googling the errors? seems that there is a few known errors for this game? it's a 2017 game so surprised that it's not working on Win10

Googling the errors throws back to a few similar issues people have had over the years with Origin, though none specifically give an answer other then 'reinstall it'

The main error that pops up says "Error. A redistribuable package (DirectX) was not installed successfully. Setup cannot continue (4294967287)." The second pic just throws up EA's error saying the game can't install.

Right,

Clean install of Origin client, same error.

Manually installed 2013 and 2015 visual redist packages from Microsoft, same error.

Refunds looking like the least hassle here.

FIXED!!!

Firstly let me say, for the love of god EA get your **** together, I found this fix from a BF3 fix, a game that came out 5 years ago, so this has been an issue for 5 YEARS!

For whoom it may effect in the future....

Open the /Origin games/<game name>/_Installer/DirectX/Redist folder.

Sort folder by type, highlight every .cab file (theres about 50 of them) and delete.

Then go back to origin and install.

Job done

Thanks for the other ideas guys always appreciated :)
