Install Help

Hi

Ive been tasked with installing Red hat v4 on a DL380 G7.

This is the first time I've ever really used it and could use some help

I get as far as it asking if I want to format manually or automatically but no matter what choice I make it is unable to locate any disks. (RAID 5 has been configured using HP Start Smart) and were using the onboard controller.

I assume i need to load some drivers but not sure which ones or how to load them?

Any help would be appriciated

Thanks for the quick reply. Looking at the second link, it suggest 4.8 is the minimum release.

Does that mean ther's no way I can get 4.0 to work?

Below is the link to the actual available downloads, which one would I need? I can only see firmware rather than drivers for the Storage controllers? Or is that what I need?

Would suggest you need to download the 4.8 iso from red hat if you register an account you can download it easily enough.

The application we will be using only supports 4.0 apparantly. Need to find a way to get this to work if possible.

Otherwise we'll have to look at using an older server

Can't see why the application wouldnt support 4.8 , could understand it not supporting 5 but minor version numbers should be fine. If you try an older server o/s you are going to have the same problem that the drivers for the proliant G7 are not included so unless you can get the drivers seperately from HP as i didnt see them on their download site you could be in a bit of a spot

I meant an older server instead of the G7. Think we might have a Poweredge 2950 kicking about that I could try. Not sure if its powerful enough though.

Will see if I can get hold of 4.8 and give it a try, no harm trying I guess.

Give it a go if u get any issues post em here or pm me will do what i can to help you out but would be suprised if the app didnt work in 4.8 probably just the case that the documentation is out of date
