install joomla on ftp

hi there,

how do you install joomla to you webhost without using cpanel?

am i mistaken or do I just install it as normal like on my pc and during the preinstall configure my ftp details and its done?

please clarify perhaps I am missing a really simple trick here?

I would guess that would work but how are you going to configure the database?

you can just ftp the files but you need access to the myqsl database to configure it

What I do

- Install on my local machine
- Get it work how I want
- Copy enitre contents of folder to public_html
- Export tables from local database in phpmyadmin
- import tables to the database i've created using remote phpmyadmin
- configure config.php file to point at new database
- ????
- Profit!
