Is this possible?

when i press F6 at the start of win xp install it asks for a floppy disk, is it at all possible to do from a usb flash drive?

dont have a floppy disk drive :(

No, it's a floppy or nothing if you use the F6 route.

Nlite however will let you integrate the drivers into the install CD so that they appear without needing to F6.

possibly

i use..
driverpacks.net to add mass storage drivers
then nlite to rebuild the disc

that link regarding editing the iastor files has left me scared and confused :(

computer regards the freecom as an nec uf000x usb device

this guy has told you exactly what to do

-a freecom what?

since it's iastor (intel), see if there's an option in the bios to switch SATA to ide mode, that'll work

would it work if i had a usb floppy drive?

Do you mean external floppy drive with USB cable? I have a Freecom USB external floppy drive and it works on mine - motherboard permitting.

I once saw the latest HP USB Drive Format Tool for servers also forced USB keys to adopt A: drive letter and emulation, so perhaps you could fool it that way?
