How do :)

Out of interest, if I wanted to create an OS X installation which is completely divorced from the main internal installation. Can I either use the SL install stick or the lion internet recovery gubbins to create a fully functional copy on a flash drive?

If so would it be anywhere near as fast etc than a proper install?

Cheers amigos :)

Well you can boot from an external hard drive using target disk mode and can't see a usb stick being any different - size depending of course.

Sounds like a job for super duper.

You can't use the Internet recovery to create a USB install disk.

I think your best option would be to do a fresh Lion install then use either carbon copy cloner or superduper to create a bootable backup to either an external disc or if large enough a USB drive.

Then use time machine to backup applications/users/documents etc

I have successfully installed Lion from a USB drive. I did it from a completely clean hard drive too. All of these links from Google work well, I had no troubles or issues when doing it.

he's trying to install TOO usb and not from

you need the install osx lion app from the app store to do this legitimately , or an install disc made from the .dmg inside that app or of course from the official thumbstick
