Hey, ive had Vista x64 Installed for a while now... havnt got many programs on here... its just that im not sure that going back to XP will fully please me... my specs are:

8800GTX
E6600
P5N32-E
4GB Crucial Ballistix PC6400C4

what are the vista drivers like for the 8800GTX? Do you think the performance increase will be noticable if i move to XP (i havnt tried my 8800GTX in XP yet)

Yeah, another bad point about vista is the well known 4GB + P5N32-E + Vista compatability issue... Unbelievably unstable - So much so that im now running only 2GB in Vista over fear of constant BSODs

XP won't see all your RAM for starters.
XP seems to use all 4Gb if you use the 64-bit version, but then you may be back to the "drivers" problem. To be honest, I can't say that I have seen any great performance differences between XP & Vista RC1.

If you already have a 32-bit copy of XP, it might make sense to revert to that for 3 to 6 months until drivers have surfaced for Vista.

Just curious, but why did you ever choose Vista anyhow, or did it come with the system?

I believe the OP was talking about 32-bit XP, so your point is irrelevant

Right, I hadn't realized that, it isn't immediately obvious from his post. The point still stands - Windows XP x64 allows access to 4Gb or more.

You couldn't make it up - "Pray and Gamble, you might get lucky" ;)

Well gents, I'm glad we have consensus on this issue, what with about half saying stick with Vista and half going for roll back to XP. :p

For what it is worth, because of the original posters system both OSes have drawbacks but I think at present XP probably offers the more stable of the options. :)
