my wife plays these ans they have been on her pc for a couple of years although she's not played it for at least 6 months probably more.

however she recently came to try to play it and it wont work - some error 4 on start up. also a problem with a black/blank screen and a white arrow.

she actually bought another new copy of rcte and soaked which still dont work.

we also had a major problem trying to uninstall soaked - after checking out some forums we had to simply delete and remove some registry entries as it would not unsintall via window add/remove programs or via the rct3 or soaked discs.

so now i'm simply trying to get rct3 running for her.

i've updated the graphics drivers to the latest. and reduced the resolution to 800x600 in the options txt file but all she gets is the main menu tries to load but options are missing and you cannot click anything.

after 5-10 mins this crashes out to the windows desktop with a rct3 error and do you want to send the error message.

anyone got any ideas or had this issue? i finally got around to installing it on my pc earlier and its runs fine.

the annoying thing is that it ran fine on her machine previously as did soaked. no hardware has changed in her pc....just a new mouse !

if we could at least get RCT3 running we may then have a chance of getting soaked to work to but for now she would settle for rct3 to work seeing as how she's paid for 2 copies !!

thanks.

nothing that could not be backed up. but i'd have to say i'm not much of a windows re-install guru. i'd need to phone a friend !

i had considered that would possibly be the best way forward but was hoping to sort it out without needing to resort to that option.....

I'll just tell you how I proceed in these cases (which aren't really unusual):

1) Try the uninstall option in the programms menu of the program I'm trying to delete.
2) Try the uninstall in the software section of Windows System.
3) Carefully! delete all registry entries containing references to the game name and publisher or development company I'm deleting, using the registry search function.
4) Search for and delete all folders and files containing saves and possible configuration files of that program.

To be honest (perhaps I was lucky), I've only come across one example where this didn't work, and that was X3, where I hade to re-install all Codecs.

Anyway, good luck. Re-Installing Windows should only be the very last option.

thanks np, i tried uninstall via the game and via add /remove programs

i looked through and deleted entries for soaked in the registry as it was that program which would not uninstall. also deleted an rct3 folder i found.

I also got this after a few weeks of trouble free play. I had no problem uninstalling it, but if i remember correctly i had to uninstall soaked first, but then it did tell me to do that.

hi rebel, we did not get any option to uninstall soaked on its alone ?

everything always pointed towards running the uninstall for rct3+soaked ?
