Hi all - i finally installed my 4090 this morning and excitedly loaded Forza Horizon 5 only to find the FPS is the same as when running on my previous 3080. Its almost as if some settings remain that limit the performance. I have reinstalled Nvidia drivers and turned of MSI afterburner profile (i think) as i undervolted my 3080.
Anyone else had this? Is there anything else i need to resintall?
I ran Speedway test in 3dmark and got 9823 points

when i swapped to 4090 from 3080 all my afterburner profiles were gone, only have 3dmark free so cant compare

Ryzen 5800x and run in 4k so wouldnt expect a CPU bottleneck

The 5800X is still a strong CPU. I know some games like MS Flight Simulator are very much CPU bound until you start hitting 4K, even then, the CPU makes a big difference in that title. I'm not sure about Forza Horizon 5 though?

Do you have a frame limiter running?
Have you checked your card is boosting correctly?
Is your gpu being fully utilised when gaming?

i used to get 85 to 90 all ultra extreme 3090 . now i get 170 with the same settings ..at 4k excellent..

Hi, had this on a 4090 build I did on a gigabyte motherboard with a 7950X. Something in the bios was causing the 4090 to run slow. They released a bios update to fix it.

Doesn't Forza Horizon run at really high framerates? I bet you are bottlenecked even at 4K.

edit:

Not as much as I thought.

For Forza the benchmarks only showed a marginal improvement from the 5800x 3d over the 5800. Im sure i have some setting or drivers issues somewhere. Will investigate further tomorrow and report back
