installed a gig of this stuff

Corsair 1GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x512MB)

now this is what i get back from cpu-z

I am confused by the 400mhz part thought it was 800mhz.

Could somebody please have a look at the figures.

okay cool sorry for that,

so I know its wrong and should be 400mhz, and I know it needs to be 4-4-4-12

so went into the bios to give it a go and was confronted with this

mem clock mode
mct timing module
cas latency
tras
trp
trcd
trrd
trc
cmd-addt timing mode
memory hole

never done this before and not sure which of these to put the values in

if you are using an amd cpu, its because on amd cpu's the divider for the ram is a full number speed to the cpu's speed (because the memory controller is integrated.), and it never oc's the ram, it picks the divider which is closest to the ram speed chosen, but underneath it.
386.5*6 = 2319mhz so im guessing the cpu is running it at that. /6 of that cpu speed is faster than /7th of that cpu speed, but below 400. if the ram divider was /5, ram speed would be would be 463.8, which is too fast for the ram.
*hopes that makes sense*

Yes,

Looks about right.

Memory speed on at AMD isn't as crtical as for intel therefore your current mem speed is fine
