installed new cpu but no display

hi
ive just fitted a x2 4400 cpu but when i try to boot the machine up, i get no display. The computer isnt beeping. Ive tried the cpu on a difference machine and it works fine.

what could be wrong? My mobo is ABIT AN8 32X and im pretty sure it supports the cpu. im running x2 3800 just fine atm.

any ideas!

Updated the BIOS?

Presumably if he's able to use an X2 3800+ on the board, he's got a late enough BIOS which has X2 support. Though it'd be worth flashing to the latest BIOS, clearing CMOS and trying again with the 4400+.

update bios even if it supports his first x2 it may not have support the 4400 version

my bios is already upto date. could it be i dont have enough power? ive got a 430w psu running 2gig, 7800gtx

I had this, no real help I know but for some reason it worked after I left the motherboard unplugged from the power overnight and then reset the bios :/ This was an X2 5200+ replacing an X2 3800+, both supported by the mobo/bios fine
