I have an old computer that I use as a media centre.
It works well, but can struggle to cope with some satellite transmissions.
So, I increased the memory to it's full capacity (8GB) by purchasing 4 x 2GB strips.
These = Komputerbay 4GB 2X 2GB DDR2 800MHz PC2-6300 PC2-6400 DDR2 800 (240 PIN) DIMM. Unbuffered.
Prior to doing this it had 4GB of memory.
The motherboard is an old ASrock 4Core1333-Viiv.
Since installing the new memory, the computer runs incredibly slow and jerky.
I have an error message for the graphic card (Nvidia GTX660), Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
I have googled this and most reports of this say it is a corrupt driver.
I couldn't get as far as re-installing the driver so I had to remove the drive to format it on another computer and try and do a clean install of windows 10.
The problem is still there so the process is painfully slow.
I am assuming the issue is with the new memory, but what could the issue be?
This old motherboard can run 8GB maximum.
In System it does show 8GB and does show that it is running a 64 bit OS and the processor is 64 bit capable. (This is before I began to do a clean install.
So, I am stumped. I am fairly sure the new memory is the right stuff.
Any help appreciated.
Forgot to say that I have another GTX 660 which I swapped to see if it made any difference and the result was the same.
