Hi Guys,
Have a slight problem after installing a new Mobo. After installing and plugging everything in I switch on which brings me straight to the BIOS which from there I decided to make the SSD Priority. This is where my Wins 7 is installed, but everytime I try and go past the BIOS and switch on it crashes on the Welcome screen (BSOD but cannot make out what it says as it goes past so quickly).

I have tryed unplugging my other HDD and starting up in Safe Mode but no luck.
I am now considering a complete install of Windows 7 but will that delete everything including all the games and programs on my HDD?

Any help would be highly appreciated!

Thank you,
Tom

You need to do a re-install of windows. New hardware, especially the motherboard will cause Windows to not boot as described.

A fresh install must be done in your case!

Pretty much this. Sure you can probably get around it with a lot of faffing but to be sure just start afresh.

Simple reg tweak will get you round having to re install everything provided it bootsup fine in IDE mode, tested in IDE mode?

IDE mode would be in the BIOS and it isnt a setting within windows (in this respect)
It also wouldnt be called anything else.

Its basically the disk mode, as in hard drive. SSD normally operate faster in AHCI. IDE is an older interface emulation.

Is IDE Mode located in the same place as Safe Mode when you press F8, what does it stand for as it may be named differently?

Tom

It will be within your BIOS settings, under your Storage Settings (HDD/SSD). You'll have the option of IDE, AHCI & RAID normally, you would normally have this set to AHCI as it's faster than IDE (IDE is for the older hard drives before SATA was introduced, however is still included as an option) but in this case using the registry tweak you may be able to get around it.

See if you can set it to IDE as it probably set to AHCI at the moment, and then try booting into windows, from there you then need to go through the IDE Registry Tweak.

If I was you, a fresh install saves the hassle and issues with your drives in the future. Will you lose valuable data? Pictures/Videos, they're tools to back this up outside of the OS if you have another drive to copy to.

To be fair I may just Re-install as most of my games and data is on my HDD. I only have around 3 games on my SSD but most of my programs and software are installed on it but they are all easy to re-install.
