installed new vortex cooler

Installed a vortex cooler today to my 4850,with the stock cooler @ 700/1100 i had 103% load and temps at around 69/71.
Now with new cooler @ 670/1070 @ 90% load im getting temps of 99-105.
I followed the instructions carefully and all went well but have got a 20'c + gain from stock to Neo vortex ..

This is with the FAN speed set to 100%

what temp monitor are you using? which thermal compound was used?

CCC and GPU-Z,and the white thermal paste that came with the cooler.

maybe try taking it apart and putting back together using as5 or something better?

Bizzare, I installed mine with MX-2 and get over 20ºC lower temps with the fan at 100%

Yeah it must be a mounting problem, I've had similar experiences in the past with video card coolers, the temptation is to not tighten them up as much as they need as the whole fixing method feels so much more flimsy than CPU sockets on a motherboard. You just need to be firm.......but not TOO firm
