Hey guys;

I own a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop.
Here are Specs:
Intel Pentium M Processor 735 (1.70GHz/2MB Cache/400MHz FSB)
1GB Shared DDR2, 533MHZ 2 Dimm
8x DVD+/-RW Drive
60GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive
Integrated 10/100 network card
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 (802.11b/g, 54Mbps)
128MB ATI mobility Radeon x300 Video Card

I had initially installed Windows Home (came with computer). My windows got crashed, probably of some virus or something. So I formatted the drive and installed "Windows XP Professional"

Now I can't access the internet. There is no wireless connection. There is no "Battery" Icon, no wireless icon, no other icons from Dell or anything.

How do I get my wireless working again? Also I tried ethernet cable, but internet still don't work.

I have Router "Linksys WRT54G". Internet works on desktop, but not on Laptop.

Help please
thank you.

Have you actually installed the DRIVERS for all all the stuff thats missing? such as the wireless card. Sounds like you have "borrowed" someones XP PRO and shoved it on and expected it to find all the drivers for the stuff in your laptop. It probably wont find the wireless card the sound and even the graphics properly.

If you want to do it easy way id put the restore dell disc back in and reinstall xp home. The drivers will be built in on that disc as its specific to that type of laptop.

This caught me out on my Dell 630m, Windows found nothing. or log on to another Pc and a hop onto Dell support with the tag number just downloaded them and should work fine.

Not sure if it's rubbish but have been told that Dells are a bit funny with drivers like to use their own.

As others have said you have to download and install the drivers from Dell, quite easy to do as I had to do it when I fixed my sisters laptop, just search on the download section for the required drivers and you're away.
