hi guys

just got me self a Pioneer DEH-P77MP for my MK3 Astra 1.7D (1996):

The Astra already had an Electric Aerial fitted to it when i bought it, so i dont know if its an after market one or standard part. But it worked 100% with the bog standard Original Blaupunkt Stereo that is fitted.

Anyway i took the Standard Blaupunkt Stereo out today and noticed it had this connector fitted:

so i disconnected everything and looked on the pioneer wiring loom and it didnt have the third large connector like you see in the above pic, so i figured that it was just for the dash display (which shows the temp/time and stereo info)

So i connected the Pioneer's ISO to the Astra's ISO and the Pioneer turned on, but the Electric Aerial didnt come up

i also bought one of them aerial iso connectors (long ones) so the aerial lead is plugged into the head unit, but obviously the aerial isnt getting a feed from the head unit for it to activate and go up.

anyone know how i can resolve this please? what wire from the car ISO do i have to connect to the pioneers ISO for it to work?

pic of my HU's wiring loom:

many thanks!

Have you tried connecting the blue wires up (as they are disconnected on that pic). This is the remote lead, which sends a 12v pulse when your hu powers on. Sometimes, electric aerials run off this lead (the same lead you would use to connect to the remote terminal on an amplifier). If connecting these up doesn't work, you may need to find the wire from the aerial and connect it to the blue wire yourself.

Yep you need to connect the blue Rem lead to activate the antenna, your HU may have several blue leads (Like mine) one is for Rem Turn on other could be labeled Antenna.

The large connector is for stuff like steering wheel remote, Rem and the multifunction display. Just follow the above advise and you'll be on your way again!

The REM wire is the one towards the right of the photo.
It is the wire that is blue and white and has the 'remote system' tag on it.

cheers guys! did what you said and now it works :)

looks like the guy who had it before cut off the terminal connector for the remote wire which had be dazzled for a while, got a new terminal installed today connected it and whola aerial is working fine.
