I'm going back to windows 8

After installing windows 8.1 chrome doesn't connect to the net properly.(all over the web the issue has been reported)

My Samsung S2 wont get recognized

Numerous BSOD restarts

Its turd and not ready to be used.

Just thought I would give you a headsup

"I have problems therefore everyone does"

I upgraded 3 computers to 8.1 over the weekend. Everything is running properly and how it should.

Maybe it's PEBKAC?

I upgraded to 8.1 and I use chrome, I haven't had any issues or crashes what so ever. It must be something specific to your machine.

easyrider certainly comes across to me as someone who generally knows what they are talking about in other threads so saying it's PEBKAC is not actually very smart. It is well documented that some people are having issues with 8.1, so if you don't have anything useful to say, do not post.

I'd try Bledd's advice and do a full reinstall, as it seems to be an upgrade issue. I was lucky with 8.1 on my laptop as it does not appear to have broken anything, (unlike upgrading to 8 from 7.)

I've heard a lot of people having issues!

1 issue was with 2x 7979 cards giving off a lot of artifacting, when he rolled back to 8 it was fine.

it is annoying when everyone just thinks you making it up i have a issue reported a while ago its ten pgs deep on the microsoft siute and not one ms techie replied yet

best bet is stick to 8.0 and leave 8.1 to mature first.

Anyone got a good guide of how to roll back 8.1 to 8.0? I've only got an upgrade version of 8.0 but I do still have my Windows 7 media. Is it as simple as booting from the windows 7 install media?

Such a pain in the ass though. I'd just gotten a new 1tb HDD and it's been rapidly filling up with Steam games. I never seem to have much luck getting Steam to recognise previously downloaded versions of games after an OS reinstall...

8.1 seem to hang on boot almost every time for me. Usually takes 3 attempts to boot to windows with video and audio working properly. Can't be good for PSU or SSD and HDD's having to hard reset all the time.

As easyrider said, it's a bit of a turd.

you cant roll back to 8.0 from 8.1 unless you have a back up of your 8.0 youll have to do full reinstall of whatever you doing.

you can do a 8.0 install from a upgrade version if you have the media. im back on 7 till ive tried bf4 if no much difference in perfromance ill stick with 7 till they fix the issues that i get.

To be fair this is always an issue for some people ,you have to remember we are talking millions of upgrades so bound to be some with issues , it was the same for Win7,Vista ,XP and Win9,10,11 will be the same, obviously best advice is a clean install, plenty of sites on how to via google.

I did two upgrades to 8.1,one was clean install and both went smooth, unfortunately always get somebody or two with issues.

It's adorable that you think you can tell people not to post.

Clearly you've not really understood my post, as I was pointing out the ridiculousness of "it's not worked for me therefore it's broken".

In response to Easyrider, I am using Chrome and Firefox on all 3 of my windows 8.1 upgrades, I've had no software issues.

You're missing the point unsurprisingly. It's when people insist that something is broken because they can't get it working, despite others demonstrating that it's working fine for themselves.

i havent missed the point the mouse issue is a big one for gamers and on 8.0 the issue isnt present ! seeing as there is no performance boost from 8.0 -8.1 ingames why risk going to 8.1 ? wait.

i do like win8 better than win 7 and ill be back on it soon. going to test win 7 on bf4 first then go to win8.0. will leave 8.1 alone as microsoft arnt responding to numerous issues or as quick a they should be.

i expect bugs but no response after this amount of time is quite sad.

So, problems are being reported online and as these problems are not being balanced with other people stating 8.1 is working fine the problems MUSt be 'massive'. It is all relative. Nobody makes an issue of telling people when things work, only when things go wrong.

You will find that the percentage of people having problems is minimal.

Been running 8.1 since the end of September, no issues at all with Chrome, or indeed anything else for that matter.

The only "problem" I've had was the need to reinstall VMware Workstation.

No, it's not.

Exactly the same here. Even down to as far as the *only* thing I've had to reinstall was VMware (Player, in my case).
