Hi there,

Recieved my copy of windows Vista upgrade yesterday and thought I would dual boot it along side my XP version. I realise that the 32bit upgrade disk will not work unless you install it through windows so this is the route that I tried.

I tried to go through the install procedure but when it gets to the point of trying to copy the files it stops at 3% saying that the files could not be copied as the install media was corrupt. I then tried it the dos route and fresh install and this seemed to install all the files but very very quickly, too quickly for my liking, and sure this proved right as when it went to reboot the machine for the first run of vista the machine BSOD on me and I never got a chance to see what it said.

My machine is
e6300 (not overclocked)
Gigabyte DS3
2x1gb corsair value ram
1x80gb sata hard drive (at the mo)
1xsata dvd-rw
1xpata dvd-rw
Nvidia 6800GS
I have a sound card and tv card but I have taken both out in case they cause problems.

I have tried different hard drives and different dvd drives but still the same result. Also the memory has been checked with both memtest and microsofts with no errors found.

I am just trying to install 64bit version to see if that has the same problems.

Any ideas peeps

Right just tried to install 64bit version and when it goes through the first reboot after installing it bsods for about 2 seconds then reboots and keep cycling round on that. Sounds like I must have a hardware problem, could be the mobo??
