Installing 8800GT for PhysX, with ATI 6850 as main GPU

Hi all,

I've recently upgraded my 8800GT to a 6850, which is great :)

However, with the 8800GT running around doing nothing, I thought I'd whack it back in the computer, and see what this PhysX thing is all about, given that I've got a couple of games which support it (Batman: AA, and Metro 2033)

I'm well aware of the "discussions" that go on with regards to PhysX, and, I don't care whether people think it's not worth it, and I would appreciate it if this thread can stay purely factual.

I want to try PhysX, and whilst I've got some spare time, and a spare 8800GT I can dedicate to it, I'm going to do it!

Anyway - onto the crux of my question...

I read something a while back about you not being able to run an ATI card as the main card, and an nVidia card for PhysX, as the drivers detected this and disabled something?

Is this still the case, and if so, what steps would I need to take in order to get around this.

My Operating System is Windows 7, 64-bit.

I have hybrid physx working well with a 4870 and a 9800GT green edition, was worth the hassle for the difference it made to Batman Arkham Asylum.

Well, that was easier than I thought it would be! :)

Latest Catalyst drivers, latest nVidia drivers, and version 1.04ff from the link below:

Works straight away :)

Using MSi Afterburner, I've got the OSD showing my GPU temps/usage for both my GPUs, and the 8800GT gets some use when it's actually in Batman: Arkham Asylum and Mafia II, and the PhysX setting is switched to "On"

So... I'd say it's working quite well :)

The difference in Batman is amazing, the cloth, the paper, the smoke etc, worth me replaying the game just for the improved visuals :) Plus, not much of a hit to the framerate, either :)
