installing a 2nd hd

this is probably an incredibly stupid question, but please forgive me

i'm about to get a 2nd harddrive, a 1Tb F3 to use as storage as i've managed to fill my 500Gb with HD movies and games. What do i have to do when i install the new 2nd drive. I assume i just format when prompted? and then just a case of dragging and dropping anything i want to move from the 1st hd to the 2nd?

you have to initialize the disk before you can format it.
This is done from disk management, by right clicking your new drive and left click initialize.
