Installing a CD player in a Classic Beetle?

Hi all,

Ive been asked if I can install a CD player in a classic beetle (mid 60's I think). There is currently no radio or anything else installed and I don't know what the wiring situation is. She wants a modern head unit, not an original or retro copy.

I have installed head units, blue tooth kits and speakers before, but I'm not too sure where to start with this one so I thought I would ask for advice before I say yes or no.

So where do I start?

Run a fused 12V + from battery, Ground to ground. Find yourself ignition live from ignition barrel. You will need to install cables and speakers by the sounds of it also. (do they even have speaker mounting points or head unit mounting points?)
