Hi all!
On Friday I'll finally be able to order the HIS HD 7950 iceQ BOOST. I have no experience in building computers/swapping out hardware so I'm in need of help from you guys. I've watched and read numerous tutorials about swapping out a gpu and I'm very confident in doing so. I'm going to list the steps that I will take and I'd appreciate it if you guys could point out the rights and wrong that I am doing. Here it goes!
Step 1: Download the the drivers from the AMD website that are compatible with the 7950. But I won't install them yet.
Step 2: Uninstall Catalyst Control Centre (Will I have to clear it's leftover files, folders and registry values?).
Step 3: Shut down my PC.
Step 4: Turn off my PSU (which is 850w) and unplug everything.
Step 5: Ground myself (THIS IS THE PART I DO NOT UNDERSTAND FULLY). So, would I have to move my PC onto a non conductive surface (I have a wooden table downstairs)? Then stand on a non-conductive surface? As my flooring downstairs where the wooden table is, should I stand on a chalk board?.
Step 6: Remove the old one, put the new one in.
Step 7: Return upstairs, plug everything back in, power on, install the drivers I downloaded earlier, restart the computer. DONE.
I'd also like to double check if my current hardware is compatible, my specs are below and I have an 850w Corsair PSU.
Thanks in advance!
