Hi,

Just installed a new hard drive....

Its being detected in the bios and in system properties but not in "my computer"

What have I overlooked

Please help

P.S. Drive settings are correct etc...I am using it as a second hard drive...

that worked fine for my first hdd

for my second hdd although it detects as I had a partition on it when I go to explore the hdd its asking me if i want to format.....Hell No....

This 2nd hdd also contains windows which I dont want to run becuz I know it had issues I just want to access the data and back it up and then format the entire drive and start again....

How can I access it without having to reformat?

Please help

thats a screenie of what I can see in "disk management"

Now I want to access the drive without partitioning any ideas how?

Its a samsung drive....I believe my jumper settings maybe wrong....

Which would be the jumper settings to set it as a slave? i followed the diagram on the hdd but it only detected 31gb so I took the jumper out altogether and altho it detects the full drive now I dont want to format it as it contains all my info...

Pls help??

The 160g was the original it had a trojan on it so I thought I would format it but before I did I need to back everything up...

So I made a fresh xp installation on the 10g as the 160g would not boot at all etc So I have win xp on the 10g and thought I would connect the 160g and access it....

However as you can see its only seeing 31.5g and says the other 117g is unallocated space...

???????????????????

no worries I have sorted it...

the restore tho is in folders of extensions....i.e. jpgs, docs etc without the file name....

so i have to go through 149g of data deciding what i want and what i dont want

bugger :-(
