I've set up a PC for my parents out of old pc parts, and the mobo i've used only has 2.0 sound... while i actually have a 5.1 card lying around... It is a terratec aureon pci card, quite old, but they still sell them for about 15 pounds ... I have no experience with sound cards.. i ahve experience with pretty much everything else, but not sound cards... now there are numerous connections on the card (big wow  ) and i guessed that i just needed to plug the card in and away it goes.. but since it doesnt work , i'm guessing i need to plug cables in etc, am i correct?... many thanks

hmm i've managed to get the card to be recognised, and now the drivers are installed properly, and the specific control panel is working, however still no sound, i'm guessing i need to mute onboard sound from the bios?

ok thanks.. actually looking through the drivers, i'd see no real need in the card, i realised that the mobo can actually do 5.1 sound, so everythings good
