im not sure if this is the right forum or not.

we have installed the PS2 and wired it all up screen is working etc, now we are trying to get the sound to work. how do we get this to work?

we have tried just plugging the left and right channel from the PS2 into the car amp, nothing happens.

any ideas or is there anything we need to change?

Is the amp remote cable still connected to the HU and therefore switching on?

Does the HU have any aux inputs?

You will need Aux in, into the headunit, i don't think just pluging the RCA leading into the amp will work since they can't provide a stong enough signal (Voltage) if you have an input voltage adjustment on the amp then this might work.

That's what an amp is there for... to take a low level input and amplify it.

I had a portable CD player running off a car amp once. :)

I'd do as said and check the amp is switching on.

I tryed to run my Sat nav (PDA) output Jack to Rca lead and the output signal from the unit was insufficient for the amplifier to use as an input, i could crank the volume up all the way on the amp and still very little sound came out, the input quality and voltage has a direct reflection on the amps output :)

If you look at any good amp it will have an input sensativity pot for adjusting the voltage range input, usually 0.5 - 5v i suppose this is so you can cut out low level noise and voltage changes in the wires without them being amplified and also to fine tune the setup depending on RCA output voltage from the HU.

its a basic HU all had to be hard wired in cos its so old lol. its for our student gumball so its all cheap ICE apart from the screen and ps2.

so there is no CD CHanger

Whats the HU model?

The only thing i can think of, without a HU with inputs is using an ipod FM adaptor. Like the Belkin Tunecast or original iTrip. Get some RCA to female 3.5mm ministereo on it et voila, tune it to your FM radio. Won't sound the best though.

You can get a little box that has 2x stereo phono inputs on it with a switch and then a single output from a popular electronics shop. I used to use it to run my mp3 player on the same channel as my cd changer in my ka.
Would work for you in this situation, just press a button to switch inputs.

you need to put he ps2 sound into the headunit - even if this means a new hu.

if you dont go through the hu - you will have no control over soundvolume.

is it possible even if we are not worried about the volume, i know that sounds weird but just thinking
