Hi guys,

I can't believe I'm asking this, but I'm having trouble installing this heatsink. However I can't see where to clip the "12cm fan wire clip" thingies, and where to put the anti vibration strips.

Could anyone take a photo of theirs so that I can see where its supposed to be clipped onto and the strips added? :)

Thanks,

Yeggs

The clips go into the sides of the heatsink and the strips you stick inside the lip where the edges of the fan would rest.

Right, I've got it in now, but after screwing it in it seems to slide around quite a bit, surely that's not right.

I'm also trying to attach the fan and its a nightmare trying to get it on in the case (Antec 900). Any tips?

When you screw it down, it will still be able to move if you twist it, but it doesn't slide about. Make sure you use the right set of screws tho, you have two sets, one for amd and longer ones for Intel

mine twists a bit but it shuldnt move due to the round peg the bracket sits in. And i hav the thermaltake armor which is a beast yet a stil had problems putting it in!

Thanks :) Yeah it does twist around a bit, but I'm going to leave it now and see how it goes. No doubt the thermal paste has been spread around a bit now due to me struggling :) I did use the long set, the instructions were clear enough about those. And I thought the old socket A clips on the zalman flowers were hard to put on :/ (yes its been a while since I built a machine :P).

Those holes are like trying to find the arc of the covenant. In the end i just bodged the clip on best i could, pretty much everyone i know who has one found the same troubles.

Edit: mine is a bit loose as well, you can rotate it by hand, but i dont think anythings wrong as a lot of people say the same and the screws are on as far as i can get them.

Not using the extreme here just the standard version and what I did was put a spongy disk that you get with DVD-R spindles under the bracket, then bottom out the screws and then turn them back by around a quarter of a turn. This mod ensures that the HSF is on tight, no idea if it's really needed but made me feel good :)

EDIT: If anybody wants 1 of these spongy things then I've got a few lying around so let me know and I'll pop one in the post :)
