at the moment i have no proper idle control. my TB has a stepper type IAC valve, which ive simply blocked off and then introduced a small air leak to get the idle 'right'.

however, now its starting to get colder.. it's not working as well. I know MS can be modified to use the stepper - but i dont have the tools to do that, so popped down to the scrappy and got me a PWM valve off an old vauxhall.

i plan to bung a T piece on my brake servo pipe, and run the valve off that. i have a non return valve right next to the servo.

i'm a wimp when it comes to working with brakes, and i don't like to do anything that might upset them. am i running that risk in places the ICV there?

I think you will very likely see some reduction in servo assistance, the pressure the servo will see will be somewhat higher than manifold pressure due to the "leak" in the servo pipe.

Can you not add a brass barb fitting to the original IAC location?

not easily, no. its integrated into the the throttle body quite nicely. there are a few spare takes on the manifold, but they're only the size of small vacuum lines.

i'm wondering now though if i could get away with using a ford ICV, i looked on a couple of escorts and it was different. might strip my spare injection system down later and see if it'd be viable or not.
