Installing CD without drive?

I'm trying to install Football Manager on my Eee PC, which has no CD drive. I was wondering if it was possible to install it from my desktop to an external hard drive, then copy and paste the install files from the external drive to the Eee. I could then download a no-CD patch.

Firstly, would this work? Secondly, is the use of a no-CD patch in this way legal? I bought and own the game and, if I had an external CD drive for my Eee would be perfectly at liberty to install it on that, so I dont see why not...

Mods, if it looks like I'm advocating piracy here then I'm sorry. Please feel free to delete the thread or any references to no-CDs in it!

EDIT: If the above is not possible, is there an adapter that can be used on an IDE DVD drive which would allow me to connect it to a USB port on the Eee?

Another way would be to create an image of the cd on your pc, transfer it to the Eee and load it up on a virtual drive.

Will work for install, but afaik you will still need a no-cd crack to play it.

True enough but who cares? Unless he's planning on playing multiplayer a no-cd crack is the only solution that'll let him play on his Eee without lugging an external drive around.

edit: Actually, using Daemon Tools he might not need a no-cd crack, although he might as well of used one anyway.
