Hello there. I am building my first computer. I have come a cropper already. Was looking at the manual for my motherboard http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/Manual_Model.aspx?ProductID=2679#anchor_os and it says that the golden triangle needs to be alligned in the right side facing away from the cpu lever....http://europe.giga-byte.com/FileList/Manual/motherboard_manual_ga-n650sli-ds4l_e.pdf (page 13)

But in my original guidebook it says the opposite, insert the triangle closest to the lever side.....Help please ! Thanks

It will only go one way, you cant go wrong, the socket is square apart from one corner missing a pin (the one with the triangle), just make sure you line them up on the actual CPU and socket and it should drop in with a little pressure, also you'll see a couple of notches on the sides, these line up too

Like 95thrifles mentions you can only install one way due the notches on the socket and cpu :)

Thanks for that....I might just open it up again to make sure that i did it ok. I think i did it right, i had another look at it and tbh its the only way i coud put it in......

Also I have another question - i just put in my graphics card and i swear you need some screws or things? only the little hinge that opens up the back expansion thing wont let me?

And also,,,on the f connector wires, I have a little arrow or triangle marked on the wire end - I take it that symbolises positive?

Thanks

yeah you should have a load of little screws spare from mobo and case and gfx cards, I nomrally end up with bags full of them, wouldnt hurt if you didnt fix it in position but it is best to. Not sure what you mean by f connector wires?

if you wire them up wrong you could damage your motherboad, however this is unlikely unless you are deliberately trying to break it

just follow the diagram in your motherboard manual
